It can be tough to find a guild that will accept you as a mac user and some of the limitations that go along with being one.

It changes the completely anonymous nature of the game too, which is interesting.

What Id like to know is this: what programs are mac users are using Secondly, what gear (headsets or mics or whatever) they use in order to maximize the benefit of the afformentioned voice chat program.

Thirdly, maybe some impression on how it changes the experience.

Id also be interested to hear other peoples experience with teamspeek, and how they set it up.

My experience is mostly on my PC except for Unreal Tournament 2k4 which included in-game voice coms and I have played and used it on my Mac.

My impression is that both Team Speak and Ventrillo are now offering mac solutions.

I never felt the need to use voice comms in WoW, but I understand if your into the 40 person raids, the value of it.

My guild has rented a 100 people TS server and everybody simply connects to it with the IP and his name.

Its very easy to use and made for Mac (unlike the Mac Ventrilo client.

I wouldnt recommend any other voicechat applications like Skype, iChat, Gizmo, etc.

Most WoW guilds use TeamSpeak or Ventrilo, no other apps, and there are Mac clients for both - Id recommend only to use Ventrilo if you have no other chance and your guild requires it, though.

Id recommend either a Sennheiser PC155 or PC165, both are excellent headsets.

Ive had several Logitechs (when I started to game online), several Plantronics (when I wanted better quality) and then I tried the even more expensive Sennheiser ones, and my current PC165 was worth every penny I paid for it.

Much better sound quality (input as well as output) and MUCH more comfortable than any other headsets (size, weight, feel), even than Plantronics.

Its especially a very good investment if youre going to use it a lot respectively for longer sessions (like pretty much every WoW player ).

I never have more then three on Skype so it runs very smoothly.

I am vwey picky about lag but when i use skype and warcraft I have never seen a problem with lag.

So, my opinion is that if you are in a small group of people (up to 5) you can get away with Skype.

However, if you are using it in a clan i would follow the previous post suggestion because SKype would bog you down alot.

For hardware i use the built-in mic on the computer and then i use head phones to cut out the back round noise.

Its not necessary to have a fancy headset, you can get a decent pair for like 20 at radioshack.

As you may or may not know, voice communication is basically essential in both endgame raiding and battlegrounds.
